As a Retina Account Manager at Alimera Sciences, you will be at the forefront of our mission to be a leader in the Retina community. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and nurture strong business relationships with Retina practices, including Retina Specialists, Nurses, Technicians, Office Managers, and Practice Administrators, within your assigned territory. By effectively promoting our products and delivering on-label information, you will drive awareness and sales in target practices, hospital & clinics. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Identifies, prioritizes and maps key target sites for sales opportunities; responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated promotional plan to drive sales with targeted sites, retina specialist, ophthalmologists and other key healthcare personnel. 
  • Demonstrates a high degree of business acumen by effectively utilizing sales and data resources to maximize territory productivity. 
  • Monitor progress in accounts, update action plans as needed, and report on progress and business plan updates to leadership.
  • Support with navigating reimbursement issues within commercial and private payers, including Medicare, VA, and Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Engage in outreach and networking with state and local providers, patient advocacy organizations, and healthcare systems to develop sustainable corporate relationships and ensure continued growth of current and future products.
  • Build strong alliances with field-based colleagues, ensuring cross-functional support for customers and executing effective pull-through strategies.
  • Implement and manage programs as directed, staying informed about payer trends, reimbursement changes, and billing requirements that may impact product utilization.
  • Allocate appropriate resources, track results over time, and adjust priorities as markets and customer needs evolve.

 

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from a four-year accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of territory management, with a minimum of 2 years in the retina/ophthalmology space.
  • Proven track record promoting to Retina Specialists and Ophthalmologists.
  • Strong knowledge of private payer, Medicare, and Medicaid systems, as well as the reimbursement process.
  • Experience selling in a buy/bill Medicare part B medical benefit environment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional administrative skills by delivering comprehensive reports, and promptly handling ad hoc requests with utmost precision and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated teamwork ability and emotional intelligence in managing multiple business initiatives and cross-functional relationships.
  • High level of adaptability, with the ability to quickly assess situations and make decisions.
  • Remote with the ability to travel up to 50 % (travel to include overnights depending on territory geography).

Additional Information: 
Proven track record in surgical or healthcare sales. Must be able to travel overnight 1-2 days per week.
