Cascade Natural Gas
Until the early 1950s, Pacific Northwest communities outside the larger metropolitan areas were passed over for natural gas service. In 1953, Pacific Northwest businessmen Lester Pettit, Spencer Clark, and Stewart Matthews formed Cascade Natural Gas Corporation to serve these communities with clean, affordable natural gas.
In those early days, the founders faced many financial, engineering and operational challenges as they strived to expand service and enhance their operations. The company grew steadily to become one of the fastest growing natural gas utilities in the nation.
Today, Cascade serves more than 282,000 customers in 96 communities – 68 of which are in Washington and 28 in Oregon. Cascade's service areas are concentrated in western and central Washington and central and eastern Oregon.
Cascade serves a diverse territory covering more than 32,000 square miles and 700 highway miles from one end of the system to the other. Interstate pipelines transmit Cascade's natural gas from production areas in the Rocky Mountains and western Canada. The Cascade headquarters is located in Kennewick, Wash.
Customers are served from three operational regions:
- Northwest – Bellingham, Mt. Vernon, Oak Harbor/Anacortes, the Kitsap Peninsula, the Grays Harbor area and Kelso/Longview
- Central – Sunnyside, Wenatchee/Moses Lake, Tri-Cities, Walla Walla and Yakima areas.
- Southern – Bend and surrounding communities, Ontario, Baker City and the Pendleton/Hermiston areas.
Throughout our service areas, our mission is to be an integral part of the community with a firm commitment to being there when you need us. Through our friendly and dedicated employees and the services we provide, we hope you'll find we are In the Community to Serve.
Cascade is a subsidiary of MDU Resources Group, Inc., a multidimensional natural resources enterprise traded on the New York Stock Exchange as “MDU.” For more information about MDU Resources, visit the company’s website at www.mdu.com

Committed Partner. Creating Results.
CC Pace is not the biggest consulting firm in the world. We’re not the leader of all things. We’re not a “revolutionary paradigm shift,” whatever that means. We’re just… CC Pace.
And yet for those who know the name, it means something more than all the hyperbolic, self-congratulatory fluff on a typical corporate website. It means you can count on us. The way our clients have been counting on us since the first day we opened our doors.
And here’s something else you can count on – numbers, like:
- 37 – the number of years that some of our clients have stayed with us.
- 90 – the percentage of our business we get from repeat clients.
- 80 – the percentage of new clients who come to us through referrals.
- 11 – the average tenure (in years) of our extraordinarily committed team members.
So what’s our secret? It’s simple – doing right by our clients, consistently, for over three decades. Taking the time to understand their true needs, devising tailored business, technology, and staffing solutions to enhance their true performance, and making sure each job gets done to their true satisfaction.
It’s the difference between just finishing a project, and finishing a project faster, better, and probably less expensively than anyone else—including an in-house team.
The truth is, building a firm you can count on isn’t easy. But it’s the only way we’ve ever wanted to do business. Because CC Pace means something to us, too—a commitment to quality, integrity, partnership, and results—for thirty-six years and counting.
