Position: Assistant Lecturer (part-time), term, non-tenure-track, in Spanish, Department of Languages, Cultures, and International Trade, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Minimum Qualifications: MA in Spanish or related field; fluency in Spanish and English; College-level experience teaching Spanish language course.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Spanish or related field. Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching Spanish to native or heritage speakers and literature/culture courses related to Latinx communities.

Duties: Teaching responsibilites include Spanish for Heritage Speakers and other Spanish language and culture courses at the undergraduate level.

Students interested in extra-curricular activities choose from 450 student organizations, ranging from student government to Greek life to publications, departmental clubs, religious organizations and sports/recreational clubs.


 Carbondale, population 27,000, is 90 miles southeast of St. Louis, Mo. Within 10 miles of the campus, students have the opportunity to both relax and study in two state parks and four recreational lakes. Much of the area is part of the 240,000-acre Shawnee National Forest.
