The position requires phlebotomy and other specimen collections, processing specimens, computer activities, and responding to customer requests. Performs waived tests and is familiar with basic lab functions. Performs therapeutic phlebotomy and assist physician in bone marrow collation. CST CCL performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshoots, and verifies the accuracy of all waived testing instruments. Performs EKG for outpatient, preoperative patients and the CC patients. Require working with the main lab staff, other CC departments, nurses and providers to ensure excellent patient care. May require work at more than one location, holiday and weekend rotation, and will include sharing of on-call duty with others in the facilities. Works in partnership with all lab personnel to ensure that tests are prioritized properly and all work is completed. Identifies and solve problems utilizing appropriate resources with the assistance of a supervisor, manager, pathologist and/or coworkers when appropriate. Performs all age specific phlebotomy procedures. Perform processing and handling specimens for testing and/or for send out to main laboratory. Performs waived testing as required. Prepare patient and perform electrocardiogram. Understanding of laboratory specimens and the HIS/LIS computer systems. Perform customer service duties and other clerical duties as the job dictates. Maintain organization of work while multi-tasking. Attention to detail is critical. Must be able to follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Understands medical terminology. AA/EOE.
Required: High school graduate or equivalent with phlebotomy training. Upon hire must provide hard copy of high school diploma or equivalency and/or transcripts. Must provide proof of Education as stated in the CLIA guidelines. Preferred: Medical Lab Technologist or Medical Technologist or equivalent.
