Position Title: Developmental Skills Training Specialist, Achieve Program, Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s Degree with a minimum of one year of experience working in a human services field.

Responsibilities: The Developmental Skills Training Specialist must be cognizant of the needs of students with learning differences and disabilities, including students’ specific strengths and weaknesses. The person in this position must oversee case management and individualized program services for students, train staff to effectively work with this population, consistently monitor the quality and effectiveness of program services to students, and assist with program retention initiatives.

 Carbondale, population 27,000, is 90 miles southeast of St. Louis, Mo. Within 10 miles of the campus, students have the opportunity to both relax and study in two state parks and four recreational lakes. Much of the area is part of the 240,000-acre Shawnee National Forest.
