Part Time: Job Placement Specialist Position

Requirements: Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling OR equivalent graduate training in counseling or social work. Two to five years of experience working with persons with disabilities in Job Placement Services. Excellent communication skills, self - starter and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Job Description: Job Placement Specialist will connect persons with disabilities, who are in Donka's computer skills training program, to industry and internships to gain work experience and/or be employed; tracking retention of participants in employment /internships. Continue coordinating connections with industries and companies that are suitable for helping individuals reach their employment goals.

Work 1:1 with Donka students and graduates to provide counseling and support services for students during and after their participation in Donka’s computer skills training program; providing job development and placement services.

Hours: 20 hours per week. 2 full days in – person and work from home 1/2 day. Must be day hours between 9am - 5 pm.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

A. Assess students/clients for suitability for employment or higher education.

Conduct one-on-one intake assessments with prospective students.

Make referrals to other agencies if clients are not suitable or not ready for Job Placement program.

Perform vocational testing when appropriate.

B. Provide students/graduates with career planning, career development, job application, job placement and job retention:

  • Developing an individual career plan. Developing resume, cover letter, job applications on-line. Practice interviewing techniques, schedule interviews. Identify and assist in the implementation of accommodations when needed. FAMILIAR WITH: Federal and State labor laws and regulations relevant to persons with disabilities including: Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Opportunity Employment and laws, economic and labor market conditions and trends; economic incentives for employers who hire applicants with disabilities including employer incentives and tax credits.
  • Coordinate connections with employers and colleges

Regularly attend industry events.

Coordinate industry advisory committees.

Identify opportunities for student field trips to industry connections.

Identify job opportunities.

Additional Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct information sessions for the public on Donka’s job placement program to recruit employers. Hold between two and four information sessions per month.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
