Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for sustaining all electronics and electronic assemblies across our Surgical Intelligence systems. In this exciting role, you will support electrical engineers' technical and people leadership to ensure designs are maintained with robust medical device product development processes. Success in this role requires experience with circuit design, layout, manufacturing processes, manufacturing test systems, cable design, and debugging/troubleshooting. Cross-functional collaboration is critical to ensure design updates are producible with high yields and predictable production times .

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages, mentors, and guides a team of engineers and related projects to ensure on-time and on-budget maintenance of medical devices.
  • Participates in and guides project planning, electrical design reviews, technical risk assessments, and design control documentation.
  • Guides and collaborates on re-testing required for updated designs necessary to address impact to safety or systems performance.
  • Interprets advanced electrical designs to understand critical electrical parameters for design change compatibility.
  • Reviews and collaborates with NPI teams on new electronic assembly designs for DFX concepts and sustainability concerns.
  • Coordinates with suppliers, procurement teams, and design transfer teams to maintain the production process for necessary electrical design changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Estimated travel up to 10%.

Required Skills / Capabilities

  • Proven ability to drive design updates within medical device processes within established deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ECAD software (Altium preferred)
  • Expertise in project planning tools such as Microsoft Project, SmartSheets, and PPM Pro/ProjectPlace preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in configuration control management and design change implementation.
  • Proven track record of implementing and analyzing electronic and embedded solutions.
  • Experience with medical device firmware and development processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical specifications.
  • Perform duties in compliance with applicable FDA and state regulations as well as standards including, but not limited to, ISO 13485

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or six years and a Master's degree; or a Ph.D. with three years experience; or equivalent experience
  • BS in Electrical Engineering required. MS in Electrical Engineering or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous experience leading and coaching a high-performing team.
  • Experience in the medical device industry, with complex electrical design (spine or orthopedics and/or emerging technologies preferred).

  • Up to 10%
