The OR Radiographer performs radiologic procedures under the medical direction of an attending radiologist to generate information necessary for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of inpatients and/or outpatients. Services are provided in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures. In addition to performing all of the duties of a Staff Radiographer, a OR Radiographer performs all OR/Surgical related radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures, operates all surgery equipment including but not limited to portables, C-Arms and Vascular rooms, performs and supports Lithotripsy surgical procedures as needed, and takes on specified additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager and Resource Coordinator. Required:

  • State of Illinois, Department of Nuclear Safety license (IDNS);
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
  • CPR Certification (BLS);
  • Graduate of an accredited school/college of Radiologic Technology;
  • Analytical ability is required;
  • Communication skill is required in order to teach and lead;
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaborate with others in challenging situations;
  • Work requires the ability to walk throughout the medical center campus and requires standing or walking most of the designated shift;
  • Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40 lbs, and lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs;
  • The ability to visually check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, manage equipment and examine specimens, images or reports is required;
  • Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials, radioactive elements and/or strong, hazardous chemical agents.
  • Baccalaureate degree is preferred.
