Job Description Summary

Synergie Medication Collective is a new medication contracting organization founded by a group of Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliated companies to serve both Blues and select independent health plans. Synergie is focused on improving affordability and access to costly medical benefit drugs - ones that are injected or infused by a health care professional in a clinical setting - for nearly 100 million Americans. The Contract Manager is responsible for managing pharmaceutical manufacturer contract review, redlining, and execution in collaboration with Legal and Trade Negotiators, maintaining contract databases, and establishing and following a contract management process. This position serves as a knowledge expert for standard contract terms and conditions, suggests alternative contract language as appropriate, and is the point of contract for the complete contract management process at Synergie for all manufacturer contracts. This position is also responsible for managing some manufacturer relationships as assigned, and collaborating with the Rebate Invoicing team routinely to provide contract updates and assist the team with contract-related questions from Synergie's rebate invoicing vendors.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Owner of manufacturer contracting process and execution
  • Plan and direct changes in rebate contracts as needed, develop a contract database and maintain the database routinely
  • Support Legal, Trade Negotiators, and manufacturers with contract process
  • Assess, implement and communicate effectively both written and verbal contract edits to Synergie stakeholders and manufacturers
  • Lead and support efforts related to development and implementation of additional contracting support tools, and assist the Rebate Invoicing team with manufacturer audits and any invoicing related questions pertaining to manufacturer contracts
  • Manage assigned manufacturer relationships related to rebate negotiations and contracting

Required Education, Certifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in business, healthcare, or other related field
  • 5-8 years of work experience in a health care contract management role, including health plan, health system, pharmacy and medical experience in managed care or specialty pharmacy
  • 3 years minimum at a health plan or PBM experience in medical and/or pharmacy drug management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey concepts and contract language effectively
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Ability to facilitate change and manage difficult negotiations while maintaining Synergie's best interests
  • Ability to develop relationships and influence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate issues and develop solutions
