The Item and Offers team is responsible for a variety of services that form a core part of the Amazon eCommerce platform. We are the authority for product information and critical purchasing data, such as availability and price. We serve up the product and offering catalog containing billions of records to hundreds of clients, such as those powering website shopping experiences, teams analyzing catalog datasets to make critical business decisions, and teams diagnosing issues impacting their businesses/experiences.
Our expertise lies in developing large scale distributed systems that manage billions of products and offers in the catalog. These systems process hundreds of millions of changes to the catalog daily and respond to billions of requests from hundreds of internal clients daily. These systems also include scalable data pipelines that create large foundational datasets (in petabytes) to support thousands of clients performing analytics queries and include catalog diagnostic tools that support thousands of internal users. The team offers a unique blend of hard computer science problems and an opportunity to help the businesses model their new ideas.
