The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science Team uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, wellbeing, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal. We invest in innovation and rapid prototyping of scientific models and software solutions to accelerate informed, accurate, and reliable decision backed by science and data.
Our team builds distributed, scalable, and highly available systems that make machine learning (ML) and econometrics models run faster. We own products ranging from data lakes to tools for ML and analytics to web applications and Gen AI powered software solutions integrated with other Amazon systems. As a Software Development Manager (SDM), you will lead your team of SDEs and collaborate with economists, academic scholars, machine learning scientists and other SDEs across the company to develop, test, and deploy services that implement a wide range of econometric and machine learning models and utilize Gen AI services. This requires the use of sophisticated distributed systems, the processing and visualization of Big Data and application of advanced statistical techniques. A successful candidate will have a passion for innovation, interest in latest technology, and excitement about working in a high-impact domain.
We are looking for a Software Development Manager who is customer obsessed, and thrives in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment, solid communication and project management skills. You know how to help engineers navigate priorities and communicate clear expectations with customers. You should be knowledgeable about the architecture of distributed systems and software development life cycle.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature and breadth of the areas of interest, the ideal candidate will coordinate across many internal and external teams, and provide visibility to the senior leaders of the company with their strong written and oral communication skills.
