We're seeking a hands-on Commercialization Manager to execute the tactical implementation of new product launches for Amazon Fresh Private Brands. This role focuses on the day-to-day operational aspects of bringing products from development to market, ensuring technical requirements and quality standards are met throughout the commercialization process. This includes leading launch activities with food manufacturers across the United States with potential of International trips to ensure the scale-up and process efficiency of AFPB products, conduct assessments, and supports investigations. This is a Field-by-Design (FBD) role that requires residence within 50 miles of our corporate fresh hubs in Seattle or New York - Amazon offers full relocation for this role. This position involves extensive travel, with approximately 60% of time spent visiting supplier and manufacturing sites; 25% dedicated to remote/virtual work for sample collection and evaluation; and 15% working from a designated office location for team meetings and strategic planning.
Key job responsibilities
• Execute manufacturing scale-up activities, pre-production trials, and first production runs at supplier facilities, including quality evaluations and production release authorizations.
• Manage Stage Gate process requirements through documentation review, specification verification, and milestone sign-offs for product launches.
• Conduct supplier assessments and coordinate onboarding into specification management systems for new launches.
• Validate product specifications, manufacturing requirements, and quality parameters against approved product briefs across multiple food categories.
• Coordinate with plant personnel, quality teams, and suppliers to validate processes and resolve technical barriers during commercialization.
• Drive tactical execution of launch schedules while maintaining clear communication with Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory, and Business teams.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including trial results, specification updates, and commercialization progress reports.
• Track and report key items including Stage Gate completion, first production status, specification compliance, and supplier performance.
• Follow established protocols for sample collection, evaluation, and retention during production trials and first productions.
• Identify and resolve commercialization barriers through direct coordination with vendors and internal teams to maintain launch timelines.
A day in the life
As a Commercialization Manager, you'll execute day-to-day product development activities across multiple projects. When not traveling to food manufacturing locations, you could be traveling to Seattle to visit business partners, traveling to stores or fulfillment centers to deep dive an issue, receiving samples to evaluate, or working out of your designated Fresh hub. A typical day includes attending project status meetings with cross-functional teams to track timelines and resolve immediate challenges. You'll review and approve technical specifications, coordinate with suppliers on production requirements, and participate in product evaluation sessions.
You'll frequently work in manufacturing facilities leading scale-up activities, pre-production trials, and first production runs, which involves hands-on coordination with internal and external teams to validate processes and product standards. You'll drive tactical execution of launch schedules while managing daily communications with cross-functional partners including Product Developers, Packaging Engineers, Specification Management, Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory, and Business teams. This role requires maintaining comprehensive documentation of trial results, specification updates, and project trackers.
