We are looking for highly motivated individuals to work as Clinical Consultants for our Disability Leave Service (DLS) organization. Acting on behalf of Amazonians, the Clinical Case Manager serves as a medical and Mental health resource dedicated to the consulting and management of complicated leaves, disability and accommodation cases for the DLS organization.
The Clinical Case Manger performs claim reviews from a clinical perspective and serves as an integral partner with Case managers, Appeals consultants and Accommodation specialist in negotiating return to work plans with treating providers, and occasionally employees. The Clinical Case Manager will provide individual case consultation for complex accommodation and disability life events. . Key component in this role is strong self-management skills, a desire to knowledge share and an ability to translate medical consultation into favorable results for the company and employees, exceptional communication and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
It is vital to have a strong medical acumen alongside a passion to execute compassionate but business focused case consultation. The Clinical Case Manager must understand medical diagnoses, ICD-10 codes, and the impacts that may challenge employees in performing essential job functions at Amazon. have a strong clinical knowledge, understanding of ICD-10, DSM–5 diagnostic codes, understand how medical/Behavioral conditions impact functionality impairment and capacity and how it impacts the essential job functions of the employees at Amazon (Ability to apply clinical knowledge for absence management). In this role you will have the ability to effectively leverage upon your clinical expertise, but translate this expertise into consultations that will assist Amazon and impacted employees in successfully returning to work. The Clinical Case Manager needs to have the ability to balance clinical facts alongside demonstrate high level of compassion and empathy for the claimants.

• Current RN license or BSN required, and/or Master’s degree in Behavioral Health field, e.g. MSW, MA or MS in counseling.
• Current license and/or License eligible.
• 3+ years clinical work experience
• 1+ year absence case management experience
Good to have
●3+ years of experience in disability management industry managing STD or LTD claims.
● Understanding of regulations under FMLA, ADAAA, EEOC and OFCCP and various state and local leave of absence laws.
● Utilization Review experience and/or experience using specific clinical criteria or protocols.
● Experience navigating a large organization and engaging multiple stakeholder groups with varying levels of clinical knowledge
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
● Certification with CCM or CDMS
Key job responsibilities
• Work cross-functionally to provide medical evaluations and clinical services to DLS organization.
• Serve as a clinical subject matter expert to disability and leave case managers and provide clinical analyses related to functional impairment and work capacity.
• Serves as expert Clinical co-manager on medical and/or behavioral health claims and provides activities requiring clinical expertise including, but not limited to, performing provider interviews, analyzing clinical information submitted, and negotiating return to work plans with employee, treating provider, and employer if applicable.
• Assist case managers with clinical recommendation, interpreting medical documents and guidance for complex case.
• In partnership with case managers, co-manage cases to optimize case management process and proactively impact optimal case outcomes.
• Partner with treating providers to clarify clinical information, gain insight into recommended restrictions and limitations, determine severity of employees functional impairment and capacity and proactively assist with return-to-work plans.
• Ability to exercise sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills and execute position responsibilities with minimal guidance.
• Demonstrate ability to confidently communicate with Physicians, and every level of an employee’s treating provider team
• Provides continuing education for case management staff through performing mini-clinical lectures on behavioral health case management.
• Assists in the development of clinical tools, templates, processes, and protocols under the direction of the Clinical leader.
