Amazon is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to help drive the small and medium sized business experience. Our mission on the UX team at Amazon Business is to redefine the procurement space with innovative experiences that help customers do their jobs smarter, better, and faster.
This design role will define future experiences that will have the greatest impact on users thorough the purchase, invoicing, and payment journey. We are looking for a UX design leader who has deep expertise and a proven track record in planning and leading engaging design workshops, managing sprints, and collaborative ideation sessions. This UX designer will need to thrive in ambiguity, working directly with senior leaders, across engineering, operations, research science and product management to identify strategic, undefined opportunity areas to improve our business buying experiences.
Drawing from customer insights, business requirements, and research data, you will be responsible for ideating on innovative solutions. Strong storytelling, prototyping and presentation skills are essential, as this UX designer will need to clearly communicate the design strategy, outcomes, and deliverables to diverse stakeholders and senior leadership. They must be comfortable making high-judgment calls throughout the design process.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and storyteller, who is comfortable in presenting north star design work to senior business leaders. Excellent collaboration skills are critical, as this UX designer will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and other disciplines.
• Deeply understand the unique buying needs that businesses have (ship in bulk, ship to multiple addresses, pay by invoice, get approval for purchases, etc.)
• Identify key opportunity areas to improve customer experiences based on user research, trends, research science data, and business requirements.
• Work directly with senior leaders to identify large, undefined opportunity areas to improve the customer experience across existing and future product roadmaps.
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams through problem definition, ideation, validation and execution of innovative design solutions.
• Plan and facilitate design workshops, sprints and ideation sessions.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of talent acquisition trends, customer needs and business requirements to inform design strategy.
• Work across design, product, engineering, and hiring operations to create relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills to clearly communicate the design strategy, outcomes, and deliverables to diverse stakeholders.
• Seek opportunities for improvements to team efficiency and process.
