As an Applied Scientist at Amazon, you will be working with large distributed systems of data and collaborating with the product managers, teams, and organizations building machine learning solutions. You will be tackling Machine Learning challenges in Supervised, Unsupervised, and Semi-supervised Learning; utilizing modern methods such as deep learning and classical methods from statistical learning theory, detection, estimation.
Great candidates for this position will have strong skills in the areas of data science, machine learning, computer vision, optimization, NLP, or statistics. You will have hands-on experience with multiple science initiatives as well as be able to balance technical skills with business judgment to make the right decisions about technology, models and methodological choices. Minerva is a small team of experienced scientists with a broad charter and critical mission for the Books business. At Minerva, we build science-based systems for optimizing manufacturing, fulfillment, and quality processes for our Print On Demand (POD) business. We also use science for marketing and content-discovery for indie authors, fraud/abuse, and content risk. Each Minerva scientist owns a large space and works closely with respective senior leaders across business, engineering, and operations for the science area they lead. We have mature areas and green-field opportunities. We have engineering, BIE, and DE support across our areas. Minerva scientists don't have on-call rotations.
