The Role:
As a Systems Safety Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to assess our innovative Consumer Electronics products against customer safety. You will work closely with internal as well as external partners to drive failure and root cause analysis, identify trend risks, work closely with design & sustaining engineering, and develop mechanisms & metrics to ensure customer delight with our products. You must be responsive, flexible, data-driven, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative engineering & management environment. Clear & adaptive written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills are required.
Key job responsibilities
As Safety engineer and Elecrical Engineering subject matter expert, you will work alongside other Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware/Software, Radio Frequency, Audio, Quality, and Manufacturing engineers as well as Program Management; supporting the analysis, coordination, and design optimization for the safety of Amazon products. You will be exposed to product development facets ranging from concept development to validation, through high-volume production sustaining for devices product lines.
Responsibilities include:
1. Drive failure & forensics analysis involving electrical circuits from component to system level
2. Devise methods to understand bounds of causes and impacts to present to leadership for business decisions
3. Perform & contribute to failure mode & effects analysis, single & multiple fault testing and consult over Design for Safety efforts across Amazon wearable, Echo, Kindle, Kindle Fire, Fire TV, and new product categories
4. Assist to communicate issues, root cause & corrective action status, risks, and other data at many levels within the company from cross-functional individual contributors to executives
5. Drive corrective action efforts through schematic/BOM/layout/integration changes, lessons learned, & improvement mechanisms with sustaining, manufacturing, and design engineering
6. Contribute to design and system reviews involving hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing
7. Develop automated test tools (LabView, Matlab, Python, etc) to improve data and design analysis
