Amazon is seeking an experienced high-judgment, self-motivated, strategic communications professional to join our Global Corporate Trust & Reputation (GCTR) team. Not only will this person play an important role in rapidly responding to emerging issues, they will also be responsible for identifying media trends and developing new approaches to how we respond. The GCTR team manages issues including those impacting employees, operations, our customers, sustainability, and safety. This position is for someone who can lead and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, and thrives in the unpredictable. The role is never boring, and requires a team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
The individual in this role will manage day-to-day crises and respond to media inquiries, while keeping leaders informed and looking ahead to mitigate potentially negative news cycles. We are looking for someone with ideas and who is ready to build with us. This person must be able to think and communicate clearly to address complicated scenarios. This person will be responsible for developing and delivering externally-facing statements and suggesting how to best amplify our messaging when needed. The right candidate will have exceptional writing skills and work effectively in a matrixed global organization under tight deadlines.
Key job responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters to discuss and manage complex stories, correct inaccuracies, and establish a connection point for future story development
- Provide PR counsel to senior leaders within the organization
- Monitor, assess, escalate and resolve a variety of situations occurring simultaneously with excellent judgement
- Develop strategic responses to complicated issues and have the ability to concisely, but fully articulate the reasoning for their suggested approach
- Pay unrelenting attention to details
- Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson

A day in the life
This experienced media professional will be primarily responsible for managing incoming media inquiries from multiple news outlets and providing PR counsel to site/business leadership. The issue could range from a Customer Service concern, a delivery problem, a major incident at a site, or an accident on the road. We are looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone to speak with reporters to get more information, help educate them, and not be afraid to push back to mitigate the reputational risk to Amazon. On-camera experience or willingness to represent Amazon on-camera is a plus.

The Global Corporate Trust & Reputation team strategically manages and anticipates emerging issues and trends that could negatively impact our operations, brand or reputation. The team interacts daily with members of the news media, serving as on-the-record spokespeople and frequently compiles coverage summaries, writes statements, and monitors social media.
