The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for the role of Scientist II position supporting the Abbott Infectious Disease research group within our Core Division, located at Abbott Park, IL.
This is an individual contributor role with limited supervision. Applies subject matter knowledge; requires the capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge. Carries out fundamental or applied research requiring considerable focus and ingenuity.
What You’ll Work On:
- Conduct experiments to support project goals.
- Efficiently organize and present scientific plans/results at team meetings.
- Implement and troubleshoot new experimental protocols/techniques.
- Organize and analyze data from experiments or design builds, and write reports of results in a timely fashion. Regularly present reports to the supervisor and colleagues.
- Manage multiple research activities and possess a broad range of technical expertise.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Clearly and concisely communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Exhibit strong teamwork and a collaborative attitude within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S./M.S. in life science or physical science disciplines.
- Strong experience in cell/molecular biology techniques (e.g., cell culture, gene editing, protein expression/purification, PCR), biochemical assays (e.g., Western blot, ELISA), and handling clinical patient samples.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with software programs, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and GraphPad.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree.
- Experience in serological and molecular diagnostic testing for infectious diseases.
- Experience with automated liquid handler platforms or diagnostic instruments.
- Understanding and working knowledge of Database management.
- Proficiency with alignment and molecular biology software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is
$66,700.00 – $133,300.00
