Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate who is detail oriented and extremely organized. They will need to be a "news junky", data obsessed, internet savvy, possess a solid understanding of current events and the media landscape. This role requires candidates to read and assess high volumes of information in order to identify potential reputational issues, spot emerging news trends across both traditional and social media channels, learn and use search and AI tools to help find and distill critical information while contributing to communications reporting. The News Monitoring Specialist will ensure PR teams and senior leaders are never caught off guard by reputational issues. This is a critical support role within the organization that requires relentless attention to detail and a passion for finding a needle in a haystack.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work in a global team environment across different time zones, problem solve, possess a can-do attitude, and exercise sound judgment and critical thinking. This role requires the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and switch gears at a moment's notice; previous experience in a fast-paced environment, like a PR agency or newsroom is preferred. The candidate must be highly organized and react with appropriate professionalism and urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround. The successful candidate will plan ahead, look around corners, manage their time effectively, and take initiative when they see a process is inefficient or broken. This position may require flex hours.
