Brief Job Overview/Summary
Stockton University proudly offers a diverse array of master’s and doctoral degrees across seven dynamic academic schools, fostering innovation and excellence through 21 graduate programs designed to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and serving as a key member of the academic affairs leadership team, the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies will provide strategic leadership for graduate programs, and continuing studies in the Division of Academic Affairs.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively with all university constituents to provide leadership in support of all graduate education and continuing studies initiatives
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan for graduate programs and continuing studies programs, that will align with the University’s new Strategic Plan
- Identifying and developing innovative new academic programs that include degrees, certificates, and professional development credentials, to complement and enhance existing programming
- Exploring and implementing profitable continuing education programs (degree completion, certificate, credentialing programs) that meet student interest, market demands and strategic program initiatives across all instructional modalities
- Facilitating development of interdisciplinary opportunities among graduate programs and Academic Schools that increase baccalaureate to graduate pathway programs
- Establishing strategic partnerships with external organizations, including industry, government, and nonprofit sectors, to grow existing academic programs, co-develop new programs, expand applied research opportunities, and create career pathways for graduate students
- Identifying and pursuing external funding and grant opportunities to support graduate programs, student research, and professional development initiatives
- Managing and coordinating the Graduate Assistantship program
- Engaging all relevant stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for enhancing graduate student experiences, to ensure graduate student success
- Partnering with university stakeholders to increase graduate student enrollment, and supporting graduate student recruitment, advertising and marketing efforts
- Collaborating with academic school Deans on advising and scheduling for graduate and continuing studies
- Enhancing the quality, visibility, and reputation of Stockton University graduate programs locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
- Responding to concerns raised by graduate students and/or faculty and seeking appropriate solutions
- Collaborating with Academic Deans, Graduate Program Chairs, and the Associate Provost for Curriculum and Compliance to assist with curriculum development and assessment, and ensuring compliance with applicable accreditation standards
- Participating in graduate student recruitment opportunities. Leading and developing graduate student orientation and experiences to enhance student success
- Working with the Office of Global Engagement to support international graduate student development
- Collaborating with University Relations and Marketing, and Enrollment Management to develop advertising and marketing plans for graduate and continuing studies programs
- Supporting Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission
- Performing other duties as requested by the Provost
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate from an accredited institution
- Three years of demonstrated successful higher education leadership experience working with graduate programs
- Demonstrated record of working across disciplines on program development, research and other strategic initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience developing and leading graduate and/or continuing studies programs
- Prior experience developing and executing strategic plans to recruit, retain and support graduate student success
- Prior experience in promoting and advocating for best practices in graduate and continuing studies
