General Summary: This position is to provide assistance with the planning, implementation, and support of college operations, projects, and strategic initiatives. Provide the installation, relocation, termination, testing, and repairs of all data, fiber, phone, and camera Cat6 cables, as well as all AV cabling college wide and documentation of structured network cabling throughout the college in support of both daily operations and ongoing strategic projects. Provide testing and troubleshooting of infrastructure-related problems and work collaboratively with the appropriate teams to resolve the problems.
Requirements:
Education:
An associate degree.
Experience:
Two years of related experience or a minimum of four related years of working experience in the information technology field in lieu of an educational degree.
Required Licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
CNCI or BICSI certifications are highly preferred. Certifications in Panduit, Corning, Leviton, Comm-Scope, or Systimax are preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
-Strong communication, customer service, organizational, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
-Background in construction, operating power tools, and interpreting architectural color-coded blueprints and schematics, as well as education or certifications related to communications technology, are preferred.
-Current cabling standards and codes, including industry standards on installation, termination, and testing on all Cat5 and Cat6 and AV cabling.
-Ground-up installation.
Skills and Abilities to:
-Skills in all Cisco equipment, access points, switches, phones, and Extron equipment for troubleshooting and configuring.
-Handle more than one responsibility at a time and work under deadline pressures.
-Must be a highly motivated individual who is eager to grow, learn, and gain new skills in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
1. Installs, terminates, and tests Cat 5e/6/6a structured cabling systems according to industry standards such as EIA/TIA, BICSI, and NEC.
2. Installs, terminates, and tests several types of low-voltage cabling.
3. Traces and troubleshoot data cabling, coax, and fiber optic multi-conductor twisted pair. Uses test equipment and appropriate hand tools as needed during installation or repair.
4. Installs related hardware such as desktops, laptops, surveillance cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points.
5. Labels and responsibly manages cables.
6. Manages cable trays, patches panel installation, and patch cabling, as preferred.
7. Maintains and completes accurate recordkeeping and processing of paperwork.
8. Actively participates in assigned projects, including cross-functional college-wide technology initiatives.
9. Works cooperatively with staff within the Information Technology Services Department, Facilities Division, and other divisions of the college to accomplish departmental, divisional, and institutional goals as assigned.
10. Travels to all campus and center locations and/or reporting locations; schedules will vary based on project needs.
11. Manages and orders all tools as required.
12. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
