Role
Ring is looking for a Packaging Technical Program Manager (Pkg TPM) to support the Experience Design (XD) team throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining packaging development process. This includes schedule creation and coordination with inter-disciplinary teams to ensure packaging structure and artwork is developed and approved on-time. In addition to kicking off the NPI packaging development, which includes a workback schedule for structural development, testing, and builds (i.e. pack outs), the role requires Contract Manufacturer (CM) support for build validation, as well as Packaging Supplier support for structure development.
This role will require working closely with global, cross-functional team members (e.g., Packaging Engineering, Global Commodity Management, Industrial Design, Marketing, Product Management, Go-to-Market, Operations, Logistics, Technical Program Management). The Pkg TPM will oversee key aspects of product packaging via structural design, execution, test, and delivery; while motivating cross-functional teams to deliver the product(s), as per the program requirements. Process development and improvement are also key aspects of this role.
Key job responsibilities
• Maintain close communication with Asia and US Engineering teams to ensure effective collaboration
• Collaborate with engineers to structure and release packaging engineering components within Agile, including BOM changes within the respective xVT builds and sustaining
• Support XD team in establishing full retail packout BOM’s and the supporting logistics data required
• Help connect the XD and Configuration Management teams; documenting and improving processes to facilitate scaling.
• Standardize packaging BOMs and part numbers
• Ensure Revision Change Orders (RCOs) clearly explain reasons for changes and alert required users
• Develop and release reverse logistics print on demand label artwork
A day in the life
You will work across multiple organizations within Ring to ensure packaging bills of materials and components are set up correctly for internal and external partners, enabling as single source of truth for packaging information for manufacturing and procurement. The process to release parts, and any changes to those, will be one of the first areas to focus on improving the process on behalf of the Ring XD team, identifying opportunities to streamline and increase quality of information. This role will be quite flexible and will evolve throughout the time working with our cross-functional teams. You’ll also have the opportunity to get creative in documenting the print on demand label artwork for our reverse logistics programs.
