You’ll lead a team that uses GenAI (and other AI/ML techniques) to build and manage services that detect and automate the mitigation of cybersecurity threats across Amazon’s infrastructure, including advanced persistent threats. You’ll manage a mixed-discipline team of data and applied scientists, software development engineers, and security engineers to develop these innovative security solutions at a massive scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and help preserve our customers’ trust in us. You’ll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect every single AWS customer, both internally and externally, from security threats – not many teams can say that!
A successful candidate is one who is passionate about utilizing big data and GenAI to solve real business problems. This role will offer you the opportunity to lead architectural and technical innovation and drive the future direction of detection engineering. The team's services operate at a large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline for operational excellence is key.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end applied science projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale, and complexity
- Provide technical and science leadership related to using GenAI to enable advanced threat detection and mitigation
- Research and drive new and innovative AI/ML approaches
- Enforce a high bar for operational excellence of the team's services
- Recruit high performing team members, and provide them mentorship and coaching
- Establish team mechanisms, including for team building, project planning, and product development
