AWS Security is looking for a Security Engineer to manage security vulnerabilities in third-party software and open source libraries. You will be responsible for analyzing the security of third-party software used by AWS applications and services, discovering and addressing security risks, building security automation, and quickly reacting to new threat scenarios. You will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our services.
A Security Engineer at Amazon is expected to be strong in their security domain, for this role its third party software vulnerability management, and provide contributions to the AWS Security team and to our customers throughout Amazon. Security engineers are expected to develop elegant solutions to complex business problems and apply appropriate technologies while following security engineering best practices. You are also expected to mentor more junior engineers and be a security thought leader for the organization. A security Engineer must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. When solutions fail, they dive deep and make sure that root causes are understood and eliminated with a permanent solution. They take on projects where business and security problems are well understood, but the implementations aren’t fully thought out. They balance constraints, limiting the use of short-term workarounds. They ensure the solutions they produce can be maintained and supported or built upon by those not familiar with the space by writing clear documentation and making logical design choices. - Perform third party software vulnerability management analysis
- Build security solutions to enable our customers to update third party software with security vulnerabilities at ease
- Drive large scale and high impact remediation
- Project and research work as needed
- Security training and outreach to internal development teams
- Security guidance documentation
- Security automation and use of internal GenAI tooling for internal effectiveness
- Security metrics delivery and process improvements
- Assistance with recruiting activities
