Key job responsibilities
Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability
Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA)
Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA
Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
Technical writing to support change management program
Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion
On-site support of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation
Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations.
Role may support more than one location/site.

A day in the life
A day in the life
- Operate independently with limited direct management.
- Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
- Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
- Drive projects with moderate complexity.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and responsible for working with Facility Manager (FM) to set team culture.
- Responsible for drills that are building specific and identifying team/individual areas for improvement. Also responsible for working with FM to help improve on the identified weakness.
- Create and deploy ensure compliance for new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, and vendor support teams.
- Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- May assist in the design and build out of new facilities.
- Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Respond to out of hours emergency calls and be second level escalation point for Data Center facilities related issues / failures.
- Working outside of normal business hours for routine maintenance as required.
- Some travel may be required.
