The Opportunity
This position works out of our Atlanta, GA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Engineer II, Manufacturing. This position will design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality. This position will also support the development/transfer of new product design into manufacturing and provide technical solutions. And may require working in ISO class 5 and class 7 cleanroom environments and required handling production materials and process chemicals.
What You’ll Work On
Design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality
Evaluation and management of production equipment
Production support and process validation(s)
Interface with vendors for incoming components
Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment(s)
Utilize tools like Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes
Understanding of and ability to utilize electronic data collection systems and computer software packages and possibly ability to analyze data using basic statistics.
Understand manufacturing concepts like Value Stream mapping, 5S and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput
Protocol and report writing
Generate and modify manufacturing process documentation
Work with cross functional teams as required
Develop and implement process improvements
Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical or related Engineering area or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
experience with a variety of Semiconductor, MEMS and Medical Device manufacturing processes, process validation processes and Clean Room equipment.
Experience with various solvent and acid cleans, Wet and Dry etch, PVD and sputtering metal deposition, wire-bonding equipment and processes.
Wafer alignment and bonding, laser cutting, various test and measurement equipment.
Requires solid computer skills using Microsoft Office, Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent wafers and individual device handling.
Demonstrated experience with Solidworks, Minitab, and CAD systems
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish assigned tasks.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally
