Job Description
The schedule for this position is four 5-hour shifts 10a - 3p, Monday and Wednesdays in Geneva, Tuesday and Thursdays in Warrenville.
The Fitness Instructor reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Teaches a wide variety of classes, including yoga, chair-based yoga and strength training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and strength training. challenging and entertaining group exercise classes to Living Well patients and their families.
- Lead both in-person and virtual fitness classes.
- Prepare class format/content using class design principles appropriate for the type of class and level of participants.
- Assists in planning, marketing, and implementing programs with the coordinator of Wellness.
- Cleans and organizes studio after each group exercise class.
- Attentively listens to participants, answers questions, and engages in conversation before and after classes.
- Proficient CPR and first aid skills.
- Provides safe class environment.
- Provides feedback to class participants.
- Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
- Demonstrates complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including calling EMS.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in human movement (Kinesiology) or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching group exercise classes in a professional setting
Preferred:
- Healthcare experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human movement (Kinesiology) or related field
