Position Summary:
The Regional Director of Transportation provides guidance and oversight for transportation operations for a region across multiple
states. The role will oversee and direct transportation operations for grocery, fresh, frozen and break pack products across an
assigned region of Ahold Delhaize Supply Chain. The Regional Director of Transportation is a strategic and operational leader
responsible for delivering financial, productivity, efficiency, service, and talent development targets across multiple transportation
campuses. This role provides direct leadership and influence over key transportation functions, including Transportation Operations,
Maintenance, Retail Customer Support, Yard Management, Backhaul Execution, DOT Compliance, and Reverse Logistics.
The Regional Director will lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of a comprehensive transportation strategy that aligns
with broader supply chain goals and drives best-in-class performance across the region. This includes oversight of critical
transportation management metrics and the deployment of innovative technologies, processes, and solutions across transportation
operations and maintenance shops.
This role requires strong collaboration with Regional Supply Chain Operations, Demand Management, Category Management,
Logistics, and Brand Leadership to ensure alignment and execution of enterprise-wide initiatives. The Regional Director will also
represent the organization within the transportation industry, advancing network competencies, promoting industry standards, and
championing the company’s interests.
Primary Duties & What You’ll Be Trusted to Deliver:
- Create and provide vision, strategic leadership and direction for multiple Transportation operations in a region.
- Oversee a team of transportation managers ensuring high performance and accountability
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Work collaboratively across campuses to meet budgeted key performance metrics, which include, but are not limited to: Cost per Mile, On Time Deliver, Driver availability and Staffing.
- These key performance metrics are meant to be comprehensive in nature but are not limited to the list above due to the changing nature of business priorities. Partner with Logistics and Supply Chain Senior Operational Leadership to ensure Transportation key performance indicators are developed, analyzed, and effectively reported.
- Ownership of alignment with and integration into regional and network plans.
- Manage and negotiate all aspects of relationships with 3PL partners and dedicated fleets.
- Own Transportation relationship with Retail leadership (customer) in supporting a network strategic vision and direction to achieve financial, productivity, efficiency and service goals. § Develop long term strategies for the efficient planning and execution of facility physical product flow.
- Owns budgeting, forecasting and cost control efforts within the transportation functions.
- Contribute to network wide initiatives to include continuous improvement projects and total Supply Chain planning.
- Direct and create best practices on compliance of standards for transportation operations across the ADUSA region.
- Develop, maintain, and evolve compliance programs to ensure consistent application of standard operating procedures, across the network, to protect safety and value of assets

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years Supply Chain experience and Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
- 8-10 years Transportation or Supply Chain operations leadership
- Past supervision of people leaders and more than 100+ associates
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Distribution, Transportation, and/or Logistics leadership experience strongly preferred
- Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations with a focus on omnichannel logistics and fulfillment strategies.
- Advanced understanding of large-scale grocery transportation best practices, performance metrics and operational complexities.
- Skilled in route optimization and carrier contract negotiation to drive efficiency and service quality.
- Proficient in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), fleet tracking platforms, and data analytics tools for performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Experienced in transportation budgeting, forecasting, cost-per-mile analysis, and KPI development to support cost control and strategic planning.
- Thorough understanding of transportation safety and compliance, including DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to lead and manage multi-campus teams with a focus on talent development, coaching, and performance
- management.
- Skilled in fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement to drive operational excellence and team engagement.

- Effective at building partnerships across business units, supply chain teams, and external vendors.
- Experienced in leading organizational change and driving innovation to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Proven ability to apply expert knowledge and trend analysis to optimize transportation strategies.
