The Opportunity
This position works out of our St Paul, MN location for our Structural Heart business. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.
This position provides the manufacturing strategy, vision and leadership direction for a given value stream or department within the organization. Responsibility for improvements in safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost and employee development are key deliverables.
What You’ll Work On
- Develop manufacturing improvement strategies based on the business goals and aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles and in compliance to FDA and all other applicable agency regulations
- Develop the initiatives that support company cost reduction and performance improvement goals
- Lead and coach the Value Stream Production Management Teams in development of the plans and tactics that will meet improvement goals.
- Lead and manage daily Value Stream resources and activities, including continuous improvement, change management process, material & labor flow, and technical support in achieving company goals
- Develop budgets and manage expenses and capital needs for the area
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, customer support, product support, sales and marketing, finance and other functional organizations to meet or exceed customer requirements
- Develop employees to reach their maximum potential
- Build a highly skilled, highly regarded and motivated customer focused team
- Develop measurement systems and performance metrics that are understood by all members of the Value Stream and monitor results while driving continuous improvement
- Create ownership of the value stream process throughout all levels of the team
- Manage a cross functional team through influence and change management.
- Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback.
- Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree required, engineering degree
- 8 years experience in manufacturing required, minimum of 3 years leadership; med device experience preferred.
- Ability to learn, train, and follow good manufacturing practices (FDA/GMP's) and other applicable regulatory standards (i.e., ISO9000) and ensure operational compliance.
- Solid people management skills, including demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop employees. Solid communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills. Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Solid knowledge, practical application, and use of Lean Principles and the commitment to those Principles. Experience leading and implementing lean manufacturing/Six Sigma and change initiatives preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
