Position Summary
This role provides financial leadership for the US Commercial Operations, GCO. The Controller’s team must provide financial counsel and support to the Areas’ senior staff members. Financial counsel and support are provided via the following specific activities: financial planning & analysis, financial reporting & analysis, deal analysis, general accounting, and internal control. The Controller’s team also provides key financial data/information to the Division President and the Division Staff members. The incumbent's primary function is to execute the full range of controllership responsibilities for US Commercial Operations and GCO, while: 1) ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of all financial information and 2) providing for compliance with Corporate and Division financial policies and procedures. Reporting directly to the Divisional Vice President, and Controller with operational responsibility to the US Commercial DVP.
Main Responsibilities
Direct the financial planning process for U.S. Commercial Operations and GCO: The reasonableness of the annual budget (Plan)/LBEs and other financial forecasts must be validated in terms of market conditions, competitive pressures, regulatory environment, product availability, and resource constraints.
Sales and product margin forecasts form the basis for key operating decisions in terms of operations/logistics resource allocation and utilization, tactical resource deployment, and strategic investment opportunities.
Shared responsibility for the financial reporting process for U.S. Commercial Operations and GCO , leveraging the shared service resources within the Commercial Operations Finance organization.
Financial statements and analyses of sales, income, investment responsibility, and other key statistics are developed, in compliance with Division and Corporate reporting requirements.
Financial reporting information is used throughout the U.S. Commercial Operations and GCO and Division in "actuals vs. benchmark" analyses (Plan/Update/LBE), product line profitability analyses, business trend analyses, etc.
A high degree of integrity and quality is therefore expected and required at the macro (summary) as well as micro (product) levels.
Provide financial counsel regarding commercial issues:
The financial implications of new sales force compensation plans, marketing programs deal analysis, and changing customer support requirements are evaluated and documented.
Such analyses are often complex and without precedent.
Ensure adequate internal controls are established/maintained:
This entails not only compliance with established Abbott financial policies and procedures but also Abbott's Code of Conduct and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act guidelines.
Primary responsibility for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for Revenue and Service Equipment.
Collaborate with Corporate Tax in the resolution of commercial issues.
Strategies are formulated for complying with federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements.
Promote financial personnel development and management's knowledge of finance
Promote the development and integrity of key financial systems.
In conjunction with U.S. Commercial Operations and GCO and Division Information Systems groups, define and implement strategic and tactical financial systems development and support plans that ensure a consistent approach to financial data management and processing.

Required Qualifications
B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance MBA, CPA, and/or CMA desirable
10-15 years of diverse financial experience, including business support, financial planning, reporting and analysis, general accounting, cost accounting, and internal control.
Wide-ranging financial experience, including planning, controls, and strategic planning and execution of those plans
Ability to balance between the strategic perspective and proper attention to detail when a hands-on approach is required
Experience developing financial models that consider multiple variable input factors and analyzing various financial scenarios
Ability to present material to Executive-level management.
Ability and aptitude to provide solutions and contingency plans through the comprehensive review of alternatives.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with all levels of the organization. The position involves frequent interface with Division Vice Presidents, General Managers, and their staff.
A proven track record of partnering cross-functionally with various stakeholders to produce and deliver well-synthesized analyses, narratives, and recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles with the ability to apply this knowledge to support business needs.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to prioritize; strong organizational and planning skills; strong intellectual curiosity.
Must thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic company environment.

$147,300.00 – $294,700.00
