Brief Job Overview/Summary
The School of Education at Stockton University, Galloway, NJ, is seeking to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Education (Early Childhood Education), to teach courses within the Teacher Education Program (TEDU). The position will start in September 2026.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Offer courses in the Teacher Education Program, including teaching content and pedagogy courses with a focus on early childhood, elementary, and related areas, as well as in the General Studies curriculum – 24 credits hours (TCH) per Academic Year
- Serve as a preceptor (academic advisor) to students
- Engage in appropriate scholarship including research, manuscript publications, and reputable presentations in the field of education
- Provide service to the university, school, program and/or field of education
- Support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in a P-3 or K-6 education-related field (see list below) from an accredited institution of higher education. Candidates who are ABD at the start of the position can be considered. ABD candidates will be hired at the Instructor level until the doctoral degree is completed. Doctoral degree must be conferred within one (1) academic year of hire

- Licensure in early childhood and/or elementary education with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in P-3 or K-6 school settings
- Demonstrate strong curriculum and teaching content knowledge, educational theory, and evidence-based practices that support learner development and variability
Preferred Qualifications:
- P-3 experience in public school settings in the United States
- Evidence of teaching and/or preparation of in-service or preservice teachers
- Experience of successful teaching in a college or university setting
- Evidence of commitment to work in partnership with public schools, children and families, and/or other early childhood settings
- NJ (or reciprocal) certification in P-3. (Research experience with these populations may be considered if the applicant is not certified in these areas)
- Evidence of a scholarly research agenda
