Patient Advocate/Client Access Specialist
Hours: Part time, 30 hours/week
The Patient Advocate reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Patient Advocate is responsible for ensuring that the administrative portion of the patient visit is satisfying to the patient, is accurate and is efficient. The patient advocate verifies the identity of the patient, processes insurance, and coordinates the registration process for all convenient care patients: patients to see the physician, occupational health, out-patient lab, x-ray - including mammography and pre-admission testing patients. The patient advocate meets the communication needs of the patient, family and departmental medical staff. He/she is capable of setting priorities and of handling emergency situations in a calm manner. The patient advocate is responsible for the collection of co-payments, prior balances and any payments due from that day's visit.

Required:
Preferred:
- One year of experience in a clerical position.
- Some college.
