Job Description
The Anesthesia Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Aids team members with patient positioning and comfort activities.
- Assists anesthesiologist with exams, blood draws, inductions, epidurals, spinals and blocks.
- Prepares for invasive line procedures.
- Places monitoring equipment on patients.
- Assists with intubation.
- Prepares anesthesia carts per physician preference and routine, ensuring that all emergency equipment and supplies are available.
- Organizes instruments and supplies based on the needs of the patient.
- Maintains anesthesia equipment, reports malfunctions and contacts repair service as needed.
- Maintains stock inventory and records of all drugs, IV solutions, instruments and supplies used by the department.
- Cleans and sends equipment to sterile processing for sterilization/High Level Disinfection.
- Maintains inventory of anesthesia stock supplies; anticipates department needs and orders supplies accordingly.
- Contacts Supply Chain management and manager regarding physician requests for specific supplies and equipment.
- Tests anesthesia machines per manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS through the American Heart Association
- One to three years of related work experience
Preferred:
- Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the state of Illinois CNA Registry
