The Opportunity
We currently have an opening for a Quality Technician for the Vascular division. This role can be located at our Houston, TX location. This is a fully onsite role.
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
Performs inspection and testing of purchased materials, components and products in accordance with policy and procedures. Assists Supplier Quality Engineering with technical inspection support.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists engineering in providing manufacturing support by reviewing and analyzing data to determine manufacturing issues and trends. Assist engineering on incoming tools and equipment qualification activities.
- Reviews and dispositions non-conforming material by utilizing tools and by developing knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures.
- Documents non-conformances in Non-Conforming Material Review System and lead investigations.
- May also train operators on processes and engineering changes.
- Operates all associated test and measurement equipment as instructed and as documented in procedures.
- Achieve APOC CAPA Training & Certification to support QR and CAPA activities within Quality Operations
- Direct Supplier/Engineering Communication (Re: Incoming Issues)
- Performs visual, dimensional and functional inspection and testing according to documented policies and procedures and
records them as prescribed, as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:
Required:
- High School Diploma / GED required and 4+ years related work experience.
- 4+ years’ experience in Quality performing inspection.
- Experience with CMMs, optical measurement equipment, hand tools, gages, pressure and force gage testing.
- Training in blueprint reading and experience with inspection sampling techniques.
- Good communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, database entry, and use of statistical software packages.
- Utilizes/interprets advanced numerical and statistical data
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business environment.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required, including weekends
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Applies extensive knowledge of advanced technical concepts and GMP practices, and a complete understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a functional area and working knowledge of other related disciplines.
Preferred:
- Associates Degree or technical diploma, preferred.
- ASQ CMI certification, preferred.
- Knowledge of FDA, GMP, ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001, preferred.
- Prior medical device component inspection experience preferred.
