Job Description
The Media Relations Video Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Media Relations Video Specialist plays a key role in the planning, direction and finishing of video production projects for the media relations team in support of key clinical services, hospitals and health system activities. Working closely with media relations leadership, this individual must have the ability to plan, prep, shoot and complete videos for external media channels, including b-roll packages, interview clips, Q&As, social media video content, press conferences, trending news, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the health system’s strategic plan and organizational goals by leveraging video to promote new programs, service enhancements, and clinical experts in specified clinical areas for use by news media, social media, b-roll packages, etc.
- Strong project management skills needed, including:
- Experience working with team members to identify clear project specifications and objectives
- Successfully use appropriate video equipment to obtain specifications of video projects.
- Direct or assist with video shoots, participate in editing and finishing video projects through completion including sound, titles, color and effects.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
- Responsible for making sure that materials he/she produces adhere to department quality standards, HIPAA privacy laws, and, when applicable, IRB standards for promoting clinical research.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 to 5 years of video directing and finishing video projects.
- Experience managing multiple projects in varying stages of completion.
- Video/film production experience a must.
- Experience in Premiere Pro.
- Experience in After Effects very helpful.
- Ability to operate under media deadlines and have flexibility for filming afterhours.
- Strong writing skills and understanding of Associated Press style.
- Prior experience in directing, utilizing technology (cameras), lighting, sounds and finishing.
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of clients and cross-functional partners.
Preferred:
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience with still photography
