The Specialist II Field Labor supports the execution of the enterprise pro-associate and labor engagement strategy within ADUSA Distribution & Transportation's distribution centers (DCs). This role is responsible for delivering field-based associate engagement initiatives, monitoring labor climate indicators, and partnering directly with site leadership to promote positive associate relations, open-door practices, and workforce stability.
This role serves as a field-facing labor engagement partner. The role works closely with Operations Leaders, DC leadership, HR Business Partners, and associates to tackle complex workforce challenges to implement listening strategies, mitigate risks, respond to emerging labor concerns, and reinforce a culture grounded in transparency, respect, and proactive issue resolution.
Primary Duties & Responsbilities
Field-Based Labor Engagement Execution
• Delivers pro-associate initiatives and engagement programs directly within assigned distribution centers.
• Supports implementation of open-door and associate-listening practices aligned to enterprise strategy.
• Conducts site visits to reinforce leadership visibility, associate engagement, and consistent labor practices.
• Assists DC leadership teams in executing local engagement action plans.
• Ensures consistency of labor engagement messaging and practices across assigned sites.
Associate Listening & Feedback Mechanisms
• Facilitates associate listening sessions, focus groups, roundtables, and pulse discussions at DC locations.
• Partners with HR and site leadership to gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from associates.
• Identifies trends, themes, or emerging concerns and escalates appropriately.
• Supports leaders in developing and tracking action plans in response to associate feedback.
• Promotes an environment of trust and psychological safety in field-based interactions.
Labor Climate Monitoring & Reporting
• Monitors key labor indicators at the site level, including turnover, attendance trends, engagement scores, and associate relations cases.
• Provides regular updates and field insights.
• Assists in identifying early warning signs of labor risk and workforce instability.
• Maintains accurate documentation of field interactions, themes, and interventions.
Leadership Support & Coaching
• Provides guidance to frontline supervisors and site leaders on effective associate communication and engagement practices.
• Reinforces consistent application of policies and fair treatment standards.
• Assists leaders in navigating Associate Relations concerns with professionalism and alignment to company values.
• Supports delivery of training sessions related to open-door practices, associate engagement, and labor awareness.
Labor Activity Readiness & Deployment Support
• Supports readiness planning and training at the site level related to potential labor activity.
• Assists with deployment efforts in coordination with the Labor Engagement team during periods of labor activity.
• Ensures consistent communication and adherence to established response protocols.
• Provides on-the-ground coordination and feedback during active labor events as directed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partners closely with HR Business Partners, DC Campus Leaders, Operations leaders, and Safety teams.
• Collaborates with Talent, Learning, and Workforce teams to address systemic drivers of associate dissatisfaction.
• Supports integration of engagement strategies into onboarding and workforce stability initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Field Insights
• Identifies opportunities to strengthen associate engagement practices across distribution centers.
• Shares best practices and lessons learned across sites to drive consistency and improvement.
• Participates in special projects and labor engagement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field experience required.
Experience:
• 5-7 years of experience in Employee Relations, HR Generalist, Labor Relations, or field-based HR support roles.
• Experience supporting multi-site or distribution center environments preferred.
• Experience working in operational or high-volume workforce settings preferred.
• Knowledge of employee relations principles and basic labor relations concepts.
• Understanding of distribution center or transportation operational environments.
• Knowledge of employment law fundamentals and workplace compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with engagement survey processes and action planning practices.
• Understanding of workforce metrics such as turnover, attendance, and engagement indicators.
Other Requirements
• Travel required (approximately 50-60%) to assigned distribution centers.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, based on operational or labor-related needs.
• Works within established labor engagement strategies, corporate policies, and legal frameworks, with defined site-level responsibilities and escalation protocols.
PA/SC/ME/NC Salary Range: $75,040 - $112,560
MA/IL/NY/NJ/CT/RI Salary Range: $86,320 - $129,480
