What:
The Specialist II, HR Modernization leads individual HR modernization initiatives or major workstreams from early concept through design, deployment, and stabilization. The role owns the detailed work required to convert ideas into operational HR solutions, ensuring initiatives are ready for launch, adopted by HR teams, and positioned for sustainable run-state ownership.
How:
Through detailed analysis, solution design, hands-on project management, and close partnership with HR COEs and field HR teams, the Specialist II develops processes, tools, documentation, and training materials. The role coordinates pilots and rollouts, manages risks and dependencies, and monitors early performance post-launch. Work is completed within established modernization standards while requiring independent judgment and depth of execution.

Supervision Given & Received:
This is an advanced individual contributor role with no direct reports. Works under the direction of the Mgr II HR Modernization, receiving prioritization and design guardrails while exercising autonomy over day-to-day execution. Collaborates extensively with HR COEs, field HR, Operations, IT, and vendors.
Primary Duties
HR Modernization Project Execution
• Own assigned HR modernization initiatives or complex workstreams from conception through deployment and stabilization.
• Translate business needs and design direction into detailed project plans, deliverables, and execution timelines.
Discovery, Analysis & Concept Development
• Conduct discovery activities including stakeholder interviews, current-state assessments, and pain-point analysis.
• Develop problem statements, design options, and recommendations for approval.
Solution Design & Build
• Design HR processes, workflows, tools, templates, and playbooks aligned to modernization standards.
• Draft detailed documentation including process maps, role guidance, job aids, and implementation instructions.
Deployment & Rollout
• Coordinate pilots, testing, training, and phased rollouts for assigned initiatives.
• Support communications, leader enablement, and HR training required for successful adoption.
Change & Adoption Support
• Monitor adoption indicators and user feedback post-launch.
• Identify issues, recommend adjustments, and support refinements to improve usability and effectiveness.
Run-State Transition & Sustainment
• Prepare solutions for handoff to run-state owners, including documentation, ownership clarity, and success measures.
• Support stabilization activities following launch to ensure durability and consistency.
Metrics, Tracking & Reporting
• Track progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes for owned initiatives.
• Provide status updates, insights, and recommendations to Manager and team.
Benchmarking & Continuous Improvement
• Research external best practices and emerging trends to inform design decisions.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or enhance existing HR solutions.
Risk, Compliance & Quality
• Ensure assigned initiatives comply with HR policies, data privacy requirements, and documentation standards.
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready materials
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Organizational Psychology, or related field required
Experience:
• 5-7 years of progressive HR, HR operations, or HR project experience.
• Demonstrated experience independently driving projects or complex workstreams from design through implementation.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience across multiple HR disciplines (e.g., Performance, Talent, Engagement, HR Operations, Onboarding).
• Experience designing processes, building playbooks, and supporting large-scale change.
• Experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or other operational environments.
Certifications (preferred):
• SHRM-CP
• Prosci (Change Management)
• Lean, Agile, or project management certification
Other
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 10-25% to supply chain sites or corporate offices as needed.
• Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional visits to operational environments.
• Physical Demands: Standard office activities with occasional walking in large facilities.
• Schedule Flexibility: Ability to adjust schedule during critical deployment periods.
PA/SC/ME/NC Salary Range: $75,040 - $112,560
MA/IL/NY/NJ/CT/RI Salary Range: $86,320 - $129,480
