We're looking for a strategic leader who will challenge our thinking and reshape how we operate. As Principal Strategy and BizOps Leader for the Workforce Staffing Products and Analytics organization, you'll serve as the strategic thought partner to our director - someone who brings fresh perspective to problems and isn't afraid to push back on our assumptions. This role operates at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution, with direct exposure to our Senior leaders as you help shape organizational direction for a 100+ person, globally distributed team.
This isn't a traditional BizOps role focused on tactical execution. You'll own the mechanisms that enable our team to execute with clarity and scale without creating bottlenecks, but more importantly, you'll influence strategic decisions that ripple across Workforce Staffing. Within your first 3-6 months, you'll lead a critical organizational restructuring effort that will define how we work for years to come.
We are looking for someone who demonstrates outcome-oriented accomplishments with Senior Leader influence and strategic impact. We're looking for someone who has shaped organizational strategy, challenged leadership thinking, and delivered measurable business results at scale. If you're ready to operate at the strategic level, influence executive decisions, and reshape how a large, complex organization executes—this is the role for you.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Influence and Organizational Design
- Partner with the Director on org design, headcount planning, and talent strategy.
- Challenge existing assumptions about team structure and operating models.
- Bring external perspective to problems we've been working on internally, helping us see what we're missing.
Cross-Functional Strategy and Roadmap Alignment
- Build framework-based prioritization models that balance Must Win goals, strategic bets, and operational excellence across three sub-teams and multiple external partners.
- Identify critical path blockers 2-3 quarters ahead.
- Facilitate dependency management and resolve conflicts through data-driven trade-off analysis.
- Help leadership make sense of complex technical roadmaps from partner teams while supporting broader Work Force Staffing strategic needs.
Executive Communication and Strategic Positioning
- Prepare monthly business review materials and decision documents for Director and VP-level reviews.
- Own "anticipated questions" preparation for leadership reviews. Synchronize multiple business reviews across different teams.
- Translate complex technical and operational realities into clear strategic communications that inform organizational direction.
Organizational Effectiveness and Operating Mechanisms
- Design and maintain operating mechanisms that enable clear execution, precise measurement of impact, and sustainable scaling.
- Establish team operating cadence (weekly syncs, monthly reviews, quarterly planning).
- Drive adoption of team tenets and operating models.
- Manage stakeholder alignment for cross-org initiatives. Ensure the organization can scale without creating systemic failures.
A day in the life
Your day operates at the strategic level. You might facilitate a cross-functional alignment session where you challenge the team's approach to resolving dependencies between our technical partners and business operations. You'll analyze organizational effectiveness data to identify systemic bottlenecks, then prepare strategic recommendations for VP-level reviews- complete with anticipated questions and data-driven trade-off analysis. You'll spend time building frameworks that help leadership prioritize competing initiatives across our three sub-teams, diving deep into complex problem statements to understand root causes, and ensuring our technical roadmaps translate into clear business value. You'll also partner with our director on high-stakes organizational design decisions, bringing external perspective to shape how we structure teams and allocate talent.
About the team
The Workforce Staffing (WFS) Product and Analytics team enables WFS to unconstrain Amazon's business by bridging hiring needs through tech and science capabilities. We translate operational requirements into technical solutions, partnering with tech teams including Workforce Solutions (WS) and Intelligent Talent Acquisition (ITA) to coordinate roadmaps and drive strategic alignment. We prototype and iterate in a non-throw away modular approach, building modular solutions designed to evolve rather than be discarded. We enable innovation by identifying opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
As a member of this team, you'll work with colleagues committed to understanding the full picture—from technical constraints to business objectives—and you'll help us think strategically about where we're headed over the next several years.
