Worldwide Grocery Store Tech (WWGST) is seeking a Senior Product Manager - Technical to join our Grocery Retail and In-Store Experience (GRAISE) team to lead next-generation in-store hardware and automation initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of consumer-facing product experience and robotics/automation, driving strategy and execution for the physical devices and automated systems that millions of grocery shoppers and store associates interact with every week — from smart carts and scales to emerging in-store robotics.
You'll own products where the hardware, the software, and the customer experience all have to work together. The ideal candidate has shipped consumer products at scale and has hands-on experience with robotics, automation, or complex electromechanical systems — and knows how to translate that technical depth into delightful customer experiences.
Key job responsibilities
-Own and contribute to the product roadmap for consumer-facing in-store hardware, including smart carts, self-checkout, and automated in-store systems.
-Define the shopper experience for robotics and automation products — balancing customer delight, safety, reliability, and store operations reality.
-Partner with engineering teams across electrical, mechanical, firmware, computer vision, and software disciplines to define technical requirements and architecture decisions.
-Drive product improvements through data-driven analysis of device telemetry, customer feedback, and in-store field performance.
-Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning hardware, firmware, CV/ML, and software teams; coordinate with design, manufacturing, and operations partners.
-Collaborate with store operations to optimize deployment, maintenance, and fleet management for robotic and automated hardware across diverse store environments.
-Define and track KPIs for consumer hardware and automated systems — uptime, intervention rates, session success, customer adoption, NPS.
-Build business cases for new hardware and automation investments, balancing innovation, unit economics, and scalability across a large physical footprint.
-Work backwards from shopper and associate needs to deliver innovative experiences grounded in how people actually behave in stores.
-Maintain active awareness of emerging consumer tech, robotics, and automation trends; identify opportunities to bring them into grocery.
