The Sr. Training Specialist is a customs-focused learning and development role responsible for designing, delivering, and improving training programs for Amazon's broker operations workforce. The position leads onboarding and upskilling through blended learning—remote instructor-led, in-person, and hands-on training—while using data-driven assessments to measure effectiveness and identify skill gaps. Serving as a customs subject matter expert, the specialist transforms complex regulatory concepts (HTS, PGA, in-bonds, duty statements) into engaging learning experiences that drive operator accuracy and compliance. Over 50% of the role is dedicated to content development and delivery, with emphasis on continuous improvement and cross-team collaboration. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of customs operations and/or training experience, holds or is pursuing a Customs Broker License or CCS certification, and demonstrates proven ability to modernize programs in response to evolving regulations. This role is critical to scaling operator readiness as the team grows.
Key job responsibilities
• Innovate and lead training project directives and timelines while offering solutions to training needs variances
• Facilitate operational training for Broker Operations Partners via blended learning experience comprised of remote instructor led training (VILT), in-person, and hands-on training
• Conduct ongoing assessments of learning performance via data-driven approaches
• Identify gaps in existing learning content; Innovate, create, and test new training materials that close critical skill and knowledge gaps
• Manage classroom instruction, performance and reporting, providing subject matter expertise in areas of content specialties
Key skills:
• Understanding of brokerage incident and escalation functions.
• Proficient in and able to explain customs, in-bonds, duty statements, etc.
• Experience in or with International Logistics, Cross-Border Transportation and Supply Chain, or US Customs rules and regulations.
• 1+ year as a Licensed Customs Broker or has Customs experience with a willingness to taking the Customs Brokerage or Certificate (CCS) license exam.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with stakeholders and leadership.
