Amazon Freight is a fast-growing business within Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS) that provides enterprise shippers with a full-service freight solution. Our Enterprise Account Management team owns the commercial relationships with some of the largest shippers in North America, managing a complex book of business that spans truckload, intermodal, and LTL.
We are looking for an Enterprise Strategic Initiatives Lead to serve as a force multiplier for our Enterprise organization. This role reports directly to the Head of Enterprise Account Management and sits embedded within the sales, account management, and customer success teams. This is an ownership role where you will identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve our business, build the solutions, and drive outcomes end to end within our organization and across our partner organizations.
The right person for this role is equal parts strategist and operator. You will define new initiatives, build the frameworks, create the tools, and ensure our teams execute against them. You will work across every function that touches our enterprise business: sales, operations, pricing, finance, product, and technology. The work is highly ambiguous, changes frequently, and requires someone who thrives in complexity and moves fast without sacrificing quality.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to own a broad portfolio of high-impact work, operate with significant autonomy, and directly shape the trajectory of a business that is scaling rapidly. It is also a strong development path into a senior customer-facing role for candidates who want to build deep business acumen before taking on direct account ownership
Key job responsibilities
• Strategic Initiative Ownership: Identify, design, and drive end-to-end execution of initiatives that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and sales effectiveness across the Enterprise book of business. You own the full lifecycle from opportunity identification through scaled implementation.
• Financial Performance: Develop and maintain inspection tools, reporting mechanisms, and analytical frameworks that enable the team to understand and improve margin, revenue, and cost outcomes. Build new approaches to financial visibility that allow leaders to make faster, better-informed decisions.
• Analytics, AI & Tooling: Design and implement new data collection methods, dashboards, and AI-driven solutions that give our teams an edge in managing financial outcomes. Partner with technology and data science teams to translate business needs into scalable tools.
• Process Design & Standard Work: Inspect current processes, define new expectations, and build the training and enablement materials to ensure teams execute at a high bar. Create audit mechanisms and goal structures that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Influence: Work across sales, operations, pricing, finance, product, and technology to drive alignment and action on strategic priorities. Navigate ambiguity and competing priorities to deliver outcomes without direct authority.
• Cost Reduction & Margin Improvement: Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities that improve the economics of our enterprise business. Build business cases, quantify impact, and drive implementation with partner teams.
• Reporting & Communication: Build and own regular reporting cadences (flash reports, financial reviews, initiative updates) that give leadership clear visibility into business performance and initiative progress.
A day in the life
No two weeks look the same in this role, which is what makes it compelling. In a given week you might:
• Analyze P&L data to identify a margin erosion trend, then build a business case and action plan to address it with the pricing and operations teams.
• Design and roll out a new goal structure or audit mechanism to ensure account executives are driving the financial outcomes the business needs.
• Partner with data science or technology teams to build an AI-driven reporting tool that gives your sales team real-time visibility into cost drivers and financial performance.
• Develop and deliver training on a new standard work process you created, ensuring the team understands both the what and the why.
• Lead a cross-functional working group to solve a cost problem that spans operations, carrier management, and commercial teams.
• Build a new inspection or reporting cadence that allows leadership to identify underperforming areas of the business and take targeted action.
• Scope a new cost reduction initiative from scratch: define the opportunity, build the mechanism, pilot with a subset of accounts, measure results, and scale.
You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution. The expectation is not just to identify what we should do, but to build it, ship it, and make sure it works. You will present regularly to senior leadership, influence teams across the organization, and own outcomes that are measured in dollars.
