Amazon Logistics (AMZL) delivery operations are on pace to become one of the largest parcel carriers in the world and looking to hire a Senior Program Manager to define the future tech requirements for Amazon’s global delivery operations.
The AMZL Tech Subject Matter Expert (SME) team is seeking a Senior Program Manager. This role is accountable for influencing business-critical decisions around the operations tech that enable scale and deliver consistent, industry leading, performance. The individual will support the development and delivery of high-performance delivery tools for Operations and Transporters. In this role, you will analyze data to diagnose processes, identify improvement opportunities, prescribe improvement strategies and guide the improvement effort. This role will manage large, complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity, balance speed with quality, and advocate on behalf of the customer to provide high-performance app based solutions to the field.
The Tech SME team is the bridge between tech and operations. Tech SMEs have significant knowledge and experience unique to Last Mile operations and technology. As subject-matter experts, we bridge multiple disciplines such as operations, engineering, research science, planning and software development to assist these teams in solving problems and developing cohesive solutions that optimize the AMZL value stream. We are innovators that actively participate in the deployment, adoption and execution of tools and programs developed within AMZL. We create and deep dive key performance metrics to measure the health of the business, applying specialized knowledge to separate signals from noise, and we develop tech implementation and expansion strategies to integrate new software and tools seamlessly into the business.
Key job responsibilities
· Partner with tech organization on the business requirement documents (BRD)
· Highlights areas of business risk and impact for Technology Team resource allocation and provide input on software design to support lean processes and standard work
· Act as gatekeeper for prioritizing software enhancements and feature requests submitted by the sites and serve as the interface with the delivery stations to drive adoption of changes
· Support process improvements, best practice sharing, and standardization across all Amazon Logistics processes using Lean principles
· Measure and establish standard rates for standard work to be used for labor and capacity planning
· Provide metrics inputs that support compliance of standard work and that drives improvements in cost and quality
· Collaborate with counterparts in other functional areas (Safety, Quality, Learning, Loss Prevention) as well as the Operations Engineering team and DS Launch SME team to drive standardization of core process elements to support network growth and scale
A day in the life
You will work with operational teams (Engineering, Quality, Execution) and technical teams (Software Engineers, Product Managers) to drive deliverables according to the operational plan. This includes participating in the cyclical responsibilities of a program, including building the vision and requirements, testing new software and processes, and deploying solutions network wide. In addition to this you will support Ops deep dives to identify root causes and the right solutions that can address the issue at scale.

They provide expert-level support, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure smooth system adoption through targeted training and documentation. As technical liaisons, they work closely with development teams and end users to maximize technology investments and minimize operational disruptions.
