PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Director, Distribution Operations provides end-to-end leadership for distribution and transportation associates for their site, ensuring a safe and engaged team at all times. The role is responsible for the oversight and direction of all local operations including transportation, grocery, fresh, frozen, full case and/ or break pack, reclaim, facilities, maintenance, inventory control, asset protection while partnering with the central support organization to maintain best practice discipline and excellence in execution. Ensures all key operational, financial, and service levels are maintained or exceeded. Develops and maintains positive partnerships with supported retail brands and various support functions across the business. Provides vision, leadership and direction for the distribution center in alignment with regional and network-wide plans. Operationalizes strategic plans into annual, monthly, weekly and daily objectives. Champions initiatives to improve physical, operational and technological infrastructure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and maintain a safe and positive work environment ensuring associates are treated fairly and consistently. Builds a “Safety First” culture and ensures safe practices are employed, minimizing unsafe events and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
• Nurtures a strong partnership with Human Resources, ensuring associate relations and needs are prioritized and managed effectively.
• Through delegation of responsibilities and assignment of duties to management teams, achieve efficient and economical storage, handling and distribution functions to accomplish company profit, growth, and investment return.
• Drive internal facility leadership development, including the identification and development of key leaders.
• Responsible for daily facility operations including safety, staffing, engagement, financial, quality, and all aspects of meeting the needs of all stakeholders, including greater supply chain and retail partners.
• Optimize distribution operations while maintaining service-level targets and controlling cost.
• Direct site-level leadership in effective performance of SOPs and best practices aligned to company standards.
• Partner collaboratively with all support teams across ADUSA Distribution and other support companies, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement.
• Leverages operational analytics, data and reports to develop recommendations regarding work methods, processes, control procedures, and staffing for optimal productivity, movement, efficiency, and coordination for alignment of co-dependent areas.
• Collect and interpret information on present and future distribution needs for planning purposes.
• Provide guidance to on-site third-party labor partners to fulfill all aspects of contractual obligations.
• Maintain compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Corporate regulations, including DOT, FDA, EPA, OSHA and more as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• 10+ years Supply Chain experience and BS/ BA in a related field or 15+ years Supply Chain operations experience in lieu of a degree
• 8-10 Years Supply Chain operations leadership
• Past supervision of people leaders and more than 50+ associates
Knowledge

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• College Degree preferred
• Leadership of a distribution center with oversight of 200+ salaried and hourly associates
• Food retail/manufacturing experience strongly preferred
