P&CFS Supervisor - Southern Transmission Maintenance Area
Job Summary
The P&CFS Supervisor position will be filled as a Level 7 Exempt employee. The positions office is in Southern TMA area, Valdosta or Albany TMCs. The position will be responsible for all Protection and Control Field Services (PCFS) activities in Southern TMA area which includes Valdosta and Albany TMCs. The production and maintenance of a quality product and the prevention of "operational incidents" are key elements to a credible organization focused on its customers and clients. At "the end of the day", the test engineering resource is the final filter - ensuring that errors are not "commissioned" or "maintained" into the transmission system. This position will support maintenance and capital projects to include real time tracking of capital and maintenance cost, resource scheduling, organizational focus on accident prevention and risk mitigation, and delivering industry leading levels of work quality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Protection & Control Field Services (P&CFS) activities in Southern TMA area. Safety and Quality are paramount in this position.
Job Responsibilities
- Model and support our Safety Excellence and Human Performance culture.
- Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of the Transmission assets (transmission lines and substations).
- Ensure completion of all required NERC P&CFS activities for the Southern TMA.
- Ensure personnel, Develop and use safe and efficient work practices to prevent safety and operational incidents. Follow formal written requirements. Conduct thorough and well documented "job briefings".
- Ensure personnel are available for response to abnormal events and to restore service to our customers after normal work hours, on weekends, and holidays to enhance customer value.
- Ensure personnel, receive proper training to allow them to perform in their current positions and develop them for advancement to positions of increasing responsibility in the future.
- Ensure budget goals (engineering, capital, operations and maintenance, tool and test equipment, fleet, and general plant) are met and support Transmission Maintenance budget goals.

Job Requirements Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering (Required)
- Professional Engineering License (Preferred)
Experience
- At least 5 years of P&CFS engineering experience.
- Supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven abilities to motivate others.
- Ability to understand technical issues. Working knowledge of P&CFS.
- Knowledge of company safety procedures and the safe operation of the system.
- Working knowledge of budgeting and business management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Effective in oral and written communications, facilitation of meetings, and able to build and maintain relationships with varied contacts both outside and within the company.

Other Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- Successful candidate must be available to support outages or other abnormal conditions outside of their normal work schedule.
- Overnight travel is sometimes required.
- “Safety Sensitive” position and as such is subject to fitness for duty requirements and relevant screening(s).
- Ability to pass NERC CIP Background check and obtain unescorted NERC CIP Substation Access.
- Use email, pager, company radios, etc. to support effective communication with supervision. Ensure compliance with Southern Company Electronic Communication Policy.
- Must live in/near or be willing to relocate within reasonable distance to the Albany/Valdosta TMC locations
- Relocation assistance available if needed.
