AWS's Machine Learning Zone (MLZ) Region in PA is looking for an innovative, results-orientated Program Manager based in Berwick, PA (US) to help manage, build and support a high scale series of MLZ campus builds.
The PA MLZ Program Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the MLZ Data Center infrastructure program management and integrating across relevant partner teams.
This senior-level role requires a deep understanding of technical systems, construction phases and milestones, commissioning protocol, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with technical document review acumen, are vital for this position.
The role will be a key contributor to the continuous improvement of operational processes in the ML Data Center Operations space and the implementation of innovative solutions.
The successful candidate is data driven professional who will excel within a fast paced environment. Navigating ambiguity will be a core skillset. As the Program Manager – the individual will assist in providing vision, leadership, and solutions to complex problems that overlap various interdependencies. They should also understand the nuance of being strategic, while at the same time staying close to the details – providing direction/recommendations to our regional teams and fostering transparent relationships. The candidate must be able to balance frugality with creativity in offering solutions and approach problem-solving with an emphasis on root cause. Compiling and sharing pertinent lessons learned at a macro level will be key. This role requires travel approximately 10% of the time.
Key job responsibilities
• Assist in leading the evolution of our MLZ landscape as we implement new technology and data designs at scale. In many cases these campuses will have power and cooling technology or constructs that are both extremely unique and advanced. This role will be instrumental in conceiving and executing MLZ region launch roadmaps.
• Identify, implement and report on continuous improvement program initiatives, leveraging operational data, customer insights and deep dives to drive change.
• Establish performance-focused guidelines, QA/QC audits, continuous improvement and process improvement integration, performance-focused vendor KPIs, and innovation initiatives.
• Work cross functionally with global and regional peers to improve the quality of AWS MLZ delivery and launch workflow/process optimization. Premiums will be placed on Safety, Security, Availability, efficiency, and cost savings.
• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive Lessons Learned programs to ensure each subsequent launch is more efficient than the last.
• Contribute to business continuity planning and climate risk assessments; support operational plans for emergency preparedness.
• Routinely connect to external industry, professional bodies and communities, assessing new industry standards, current/future technology and innovations are adopted into the MLZ program.
A day in the life
You will collaborate with Data Center Operations, Security, Construction, Environmental Health & Safety, and DE/FE to integrate region launch optimization. Strategic Program Management of PA MLZ region launch milestones involving hand-off between stakeholders will require consistent objective process rigor. You will use operational and customer insights plus industry benchmarks to refine future PA MLZ region launches. You operate collaboratively, fostering highly integrated relationships with internal and external stakeholders/partner teams. You are comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level, simultaneously delivering multiple projects and managing through ambiguity. You have a proven track-record, expertise, and passion for problem solving.
