A day in the life
Your day begins reviewing network monitoring alerts across manufacturing facilities and mission operations centers. You'll analyze traffic patterns and capacity needs for the factory floor while planning network expansion for new lab spaces. During technical design sessions, you'll architect network solutions for upcoming launch sites, considering redundancy and security requirements. You'll coordinate with vendors on WAN circuit installations, troubleshoot routing issues affecting production systems, and mentor team members on complex network deployments. Time is split between hands-on configuration of critical infrastructure and leading design reviews for new network implementations. You'll participate in change management meetings, schedule maintenance windows, and document network modifications. Throughout the day, you'll handle escalations from manufacturing teams, validate network security controls, and ensure high availability across all sites. The role requires balancing immediate operational needs with long-term architecture planning while maintaining network reliability for mission-critical operations.
