We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer for our Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team. In this role, it will be your job to help develop, review, consult and review engineering designs for compliance with applicable safety requirements, regulation and standards. Strong technical skills and innovative problem-solving are a must to be successful in this role. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Functional Safety.
Key job responsibilities
• Apply and educate relevant stakeholders on national and international standards throughout the product lifecycle from concept to production.
• Ensures execution of rigorous testing practices and design process flows.
• Works in a fast-paced environment.
• Develops deep understanding of the business and customer needs.
• Resolves complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways.
• Demonstrates exceptional inter-personal skills to build great cross functional working relationships
• Apply principles of safety according to safety standards, national and international regulations (i.e. OSHA, NFPA 79, NFPA 70, EU Machinery Regulation and other CE Marking Directives, UL 508A, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, or IEC 61508) or equivalent.
• Demonstrates excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Manage projects of all levels of complexities with tight timelines.

The MSP - Design for Scale (DfS) team is focused on providing the structure, expertise, oversight, processes and tools to allow MSP organization to deploy safe automation solutions at scale. These solutions are designed to improve the customer experience, lower the operating cost, eliminate waste and allow Amazon to maintain its competitive advantage in the market.
The team is comprised of Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Advanced Quality Planning, Safety & Compliance, Reliability, Strategic Sourcing and Design for Assembly. The team provides core support to the entire MSP product teams and collaborates at a high level with business partners throughout the Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics (FTR) network.
