Amazon Intermodal (AZIM) is building systems and capabilities to ensure that we deliver our customers’ freight, no matter how large or small, as quickly, accurately, and cost effectively as possible. AZIM will own ~25K assets by EOY’24. We are looking for a strong leader to own VP Goals for utilization of the assets and capacity management. This role will require you to work cross functionally and understand the long-term requirements of the all programs that leverage AZIM assets. This is a high impact and visibility role, as it requires recommending the future build plans and the capital investment needed for AZIM capacity. As a part of the planning process, you will be interacting with senior-level audiences (including directors and VPs) , Program teams, tech teams( MMPT) and Finance leadership mainly to get their alignment to the recommendation. The role will offer unique opportunity to develop the best-in-class middle mile network for the North American Amazon owned Intermodal network to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed. Besides the planning side, the role offers you to work on the Operations Research based planning tools and partner with research scientists to define new tools for capacity planning and minimizing costs.
Key job responsibilities
• Deep diving the gaps within planning tools/products and partnering with Business Intelligence team to deliver high accuracy capacity planning models.
• Lead strategic initiatives related to network capacity within Amazon's various business units.
• Concentrate on optimizing and managing the flow of assets within the supply chain network.
• Balance supply and demand, assess and improve the efficiency of fleet forecasts, volume forecasts and network expansion.
• Analyze and synthesize data to identify opportunities for enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency in network capacity.
• Define metrics, develop program management mechanisms, and invent/simplify processes to drive decision-making in complex network capacity situations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across different functions, influencing and facilitating agreements to achieve shared network capacity goals.
• Manage cross-functional network capacity initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to lean philosophy at scale.
• Own a portfolio of cross-functional programs related to network capacity, driving performance improvement and efficiency in project delivery.
• Identify and deliver operational improvement opportunities in network capacity, focusing on inventory management, logistics strategy, and transportation optimization.
• Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions
• Work with program managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate and impact critical business decisions
