The Rapid and Rural Logistics team covers a portfolio of high-growth businesses with unique fulfillment and operational capabilities such as Sub Same Day (SSD), SSD Direct, and Rural Super Rural (RSR) +. Our Finance teams partner closely with our operations teams to influence the strategic direction of the business, drive operations excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long-term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. We experiment constantly, fail fast, and never stop learning.
This role will own the SSD Delivery Planning and controllership for shipping supply, which is more important than ever due to our commitment to grocery (perishable) delivery. The individual will partner across multiple teams to develop and design new models of trade-off calculation and operations for the long term vision of the program. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They will collaborate with executives and business units across Amazon, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, and prioritize the most impactful projects and programs to drive businesses forward. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity of building innovative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that impact company-wide strategic decisions.
Key job responsibilities
- Creating financial models and plans, interpreting large data sets, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon
- Building effective business partnerships and using active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner
- Identifying opportunities to reduce operational costs through data and financial analysis inclusive of proactively resolving defects, benchmarking key performance indicators, and developing new metrics
- Implementing solutions to simplify, improve, automate, standardize and scale processes
