Job Summary
Operations Team Leaders provide general direction and support to all work groups involved in the safe and reliable operation/maintenance of the plant in full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local permitting requirements on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis. The Operations Team Leader will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the plant, including, but not limited to, communicating with Fleet Operations, providing support to the site operations training program, procedure development, participating in plant change management processes, coordinating solutions from technical experts in Southern Company Technical Shared Services, working with the Planning & Scheduling department to ensure effective outage and maintenance activities, procuring materials, reviewing/approving invoices, coordinating contractor-provided services, and overseeing projects to ensure quality workmanship and value for the cost of service. The Operations Team Leader provides leadership to employees to maximize plant reliability and efficiency while complying with all safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements. The successful candidate will provide coaching through performance management for each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees’ skills for future opportunities. Serving alongside other team leaders and as a member of the plant leadership team, the successful candidate will provide input concerning potential work methods, processes, or equipment improvements that would contribute to the success of the plant.
The Operations Team Leaders will support the Retail Combined Cycle Operations Review Board (ORB) and Maintenance Review Board (MRB) efforts, champion System Ownership amongst team members, promote an inclusive and positive culture, and lead by example. Operations Team Leaders assume responsibility for all on-site activities when the Plant Manager and the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager are not available. The Operations Team Leader reports directly to the Operations and Maintenance Manager
Job Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of electric generating plants is preferred.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of a Combined Cycle plant preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership is preferred. Demonstrated leadership could include, but is not limited to, previous supervisory experience, outage coordination, substitution, or formal leadership roles on special projects or teams.
- Proficient computer skills required (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Knowledge of the 4-week planning process, MAXIMO, Primavera, CiMS, and purchasing process preferred.
- Experience with performance-management including training, setting goals, giving feedback, and coaching preferred.
- Thorough understanding of the IBEW contract agreement required.

- Experience with DCS & OIS as a diagnostic and troubleshooting tool.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire and motivate others and develop a positive culture.
- Must have proven working knowledge of current procedures and work control policies.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the LOTO procedure SCG-SH-0201 is required.

This position requires participation in a rotating on-call status. The successful candidate may serve as incident commander during emergency situations. In addition, the position may be required to support hurricane/severe weather assignments at the plant. This position has the overall leadership responsibility for the plant on night shifts, holidays, and weekends.
